My obsession with The Right Start

15 Nov

I first visited The Right Start when I was pregnant with Charlie.  The Right Start is a national chain. I have been to a few locations, but the Sherman Oaks store is my favorite.  This store is much smaller than its counterparts, but don’t let its small size fool you.  It is packed chock full of amazing product.  Needless to say, I was completely overwhelmed by all of the items available for mommy and baby.  Luckily for me, Sierra, one of the employees, is familiar with the deer-caught-in-headlights look of a parent to be.  She immediately took me under her wing.

My first visit to The Right Start I was literally there for 2 and a half hours.  Sierra walked me through every product that I picked up and gave me honest feedback about what she believed would suit my needs.  Every question I had (or didn’t know I had) about strollers, carriers, swaddles or breast pumps was answered that day.

And so began my love affair with my favorite boutique baby store in Sherman Oaks.

I visited many times throughout my pregnancy with Charlie and got to know the staff pretty well.  Even though I am sure I was one of a hundred customers they would see in a day, they always remembered my name and welcomed me with open arms.  Every time I visited the store I was armed with an arsenal of questions and they always took the time to answer every single one.  Honestly, I started to look forward to my monthly visit to the store.  I even started stopping by just to say, “hello.”

Thanks to them, I feel like I am an expert at all of the baby products that they have in the store.

Every new phase that I go through with Charlie ends up bringing me back to them.

At 2 months -

Me: Do you recommend a swaddling blanket of velcro swaddle?

Right Start: Try the velcro one. It is super easy.

At 3 months –

Me: What bathtub do you recommend for baby?

Right Start: Once he starts sitting we recommend the Aqua Ring.

At 4 months -

Me: He is transitioning from the swaddle, what do you recommend.

Right Start: Try a sleep sack.

At 5 months –

Me: He is starting to teeth. Help!

Right Start: Here’s Sophie, but you may also want to try the zo li products.

Me: I am obsessed with your Uppa Baby Stroller

Right Start: You don’t need it, you have 2 strollers already.

Me: But I love it!

Right Start: Don’t make an impulse buy.

At 6  months –

Me: What product do you recommend for babies starting to eat solids.

Right Start: Do you have the Beaba? Have you considered baby storage cubes?

Me: Also, have I mentioned that I am obsessed with the Uppa Baby. I want it.

Right Start: You can get it, but it isn’t necessary.

At 7 months –

Me: Okay, I need that stroller.

Right Start: Let me see what we can do.

Me: Okay

Right Start: If you feel like you need it, we can give it to you at 10% off.

Me: I’ll take it!

I’m sorry Oliver gave Charlie stroller envy. That’s what friends are for, right?
