Newborn Photos

10 May

This photo shoot did not go as well as the maternity shoot.  We did it on Charlie’s 2nd bday, in the afternoon, the boys were both cranky and it was my first time alone with both kids. Needless to say, I was a little high strung.  We did get a few great shots, though.

This is pretty much the state of both boys during the shoot… Continue reading

Pumped to be a Bridesmaid

7 May

I was in a wedding this weekend. While I was super excited to celebrate such a festive occasion and to represent the bride, I also was bummed to be in a wedding 2 months postpartum.  Not only would I have to pump and dump, but honestly, I am a lot bigger than my “normal” size.  While I knew the day was not about me, I’m not gonna lie and say I didn’t Continue reading

2 Months

26 Apr I'm 2 Months Old Today!

This morning we celebrated the 2 month anniversary of Henry’s birth with a jammies photo shoot.  It wasn’t planned. We realized we had about another 10 minutes before Henry melted down and wanted to take the photos as quickly as possible.  Guess I didn’t have to spend time picking out a cute outfit for both boys after all. :)

Happy 2 Months on this planet, Hank!

I'm 2 Months Old Today!

Here's a little of my profile for you...

Me and my Big Bro

And, while I know you aren’t supposed to compare, I can’t help but post Charlie’s photo from 2 months old…

4 weeks old

25 Mar

It’s hard to believe that Henry is already 4 weeks old. Tomorrow he will be a month old when calculating date (Feb 26) to date (March 26). Obviously, I will post his 1 month picture tomorrow.  Today, to celebrate his 4 weeks on this planet, here is his POST birth video.

Check out how many doctors and nurses are in the room. I don’t know if you can tell, but when I counted that day we had 15 in the room besides Larry and myself. Also if you listen carefully you can hear them calling my OB on the phone to tell her the baby arrived.  Also, the nurse in the background is giving her account of the baby just “sliding out.”  Crazy!

Happy 4 week birthday, Henry!

This is Halloween!

1 Nov

I’m having blogger’s guilt. It feels like it has been over a month since my last post. In reality, it has been two weeks, but that may as well be an eternity. For some reason it used to be easier to find the time to write. I’m going to make an effort to post more often… I promise.

For now, I am going to take the easy route out and post Continue reading

It’s a…

BOY!!!

That’s right, Charlie’s gonna have a little brother!  I don’t know why the image isn’t as clear as the one scanned below, but at least it’s labeled for your ease of viewing.

And so we just don’t leave you with a between the legs shot, here he is from the side…

I shall hereby refer to myself as The Queen Bee from this day forward.  Feel free to do the same.

Our FAMILY Vacation

8 Jul

In early June my MIL and FIL took all of their children and grandchildren to Maui to celebrate their 70th birthdays.  In total our posse rolled 13 deep.  As a parent, I had two big fears leading up to this trip, 1) the flight and 2) how Charlie would handle the time change.  Thankfully, neither ended up being anything to worry about.

Okay, I’m gonna cram a lot into one post. You ready?

Navigating the airport was much easier than we expected.  We were lucky enough to have a seat on the plane for Charlie so we were able to bring his car seat.  We made our way through the airport with car seat thanks to the Go Go Kidz car seat attachment.  The attachment turns the car seat into a stroller — pure genius!

The flight over was also much easier than expected.  Charlie napped for the first 2 hours — hooray!  The next 3 were a little less manageable, but not nearly as bad as we expected.  Larry and I just took turns walking up and down the single isle plane.  The passengers were not happy with us, but we didn’t care.

I've got my book, I'm ready to fly!

Make way for me!

We stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in Wailea and could not have asked for a better set up.

Every room was a suite, which meant that Larry and I actually got to stay awake and hang out after we put Charlie down for bed.  Had we shared a room, we would have had to go to sleep at the same time as Charlie.  Instead, we got to hang out on the Lanai or watch tv or even get a babysitter while we went out for dinner one night.  Charlie also decided to adjust to the time change immediately.  We didn’t have any early morning wake ups after the first night.  It’s like he knew we were all on vacation.

The trip was 6 days of pure bliss. Traveling to Maui with just Larry and Charlie wouldn’t have been very relaxing because parent duty is 24/7.  That doesn’t leave much time for relaxation.  Having the grandparents and aunts/uncles around allowed for each of us to take a much needed break every once in a while.  If you get the opportunity and you have a super loving and helpful family, I highly suggest going on vacation with them… especially when you have kids.

It was also great for all of the cousins to hang out and play together everyday.  We live in Southern California, but Charlie’s cousins don’t.  This means they don’t get to spend much quality time together.  This trip made up for that, but also showed us what we are missing not living near family.

Here, try a raisin!

Nanny and Poppy's Dream Vacation

This post wouldn’t be complete without a family photo and a few pictures of the gorgeous Maui sunset.

All Smiles on Vacation

A typical Maui sunset... breathtaking.

Most AMAZING sunset ever...

The flight home was not as easy as the flight over.  If you saw my previous post, you’d see that American Airlines did nothing to make it a pleasant experience.  We made up for our awful plane ride home with a pimpin’ pick up from the airport.  We ordered a town car (it was cheaper than a taxi), but got picked up in a stretch limo!  So, the three of us got to ride home with an abundance of room and our legs sprawled.

Leg room, glorious leg room!

Thank you Nanny and Poppy for the most wonderful vacation we could ever have asked for.

Hooray for Maui!

*I will try to post soon with my suggestions for packing when traveling with a toddler.

Due Date-iversary

10 Apr

I’m not one to remember every date or celebrate every little occasion. This one is just fun because of the timing.

Charlie was due on April 10, 2010.  That makes today our Due Date-iversary.  We spent most of 2009 and early 2010 expecting a baby in April.  Charlie had other plans and made is grand entrance 4.5 weeks early on March 10, 2010.

In celebration of our Due Date-iversary, I thought it would be fun to reenact our “Mom: 40 Weeks Exactly, Charlie: 1 Month Exactly” photo.  Let me give the disclaimer that I AM NOT PREGNANT — I just wanted the signs to be consistent.  Larry said I had to give that disclaimer so that his parents don’t get overly excited thinking that we are trying to announce something by the sign. :)

Here we are on our due date, 4-10-10

Here we are exactly 1 year later, 4-10-11
