Larry and his dad painted Charlie’s nursery in December 2009, when I was 6 months pregnant. I was adamant that Larry get it done while his parents were in town. I didn’t know why, but I wanted it painted before the new year. I guess that is when my first urge to nest began. It kicked in something fierce about 1 month later, around 7 months pregnant.
While Larry was at work I decided it was imperative that I have the nursery decorated before he got home. In hindsight, I am sure it was some of my controlling tendencies kicking in. I don’t know what it was about pregnancy and now being a mom that has brought my control issues front and center, but here they are. At least I’m honest about it, right?
So, at 7 months pregnant and still on partial bed rest I decided to pull out the step stool and decal Charlie’s nursery. We decided that the theme for his room would be Robots and Rockets. At the time, it was almost impossible to find anything that incorporated both robots and rockets. Some of the crafty geniuses on Etsy made it easy to execute our vision.
We ordered our outer space (spaceship, stars and planets) decals from Graphic Spaces
and the Robot decal from Holly
then we added a sweet message to our baby boy, thanks to Kids Corner
The shelving is from Ikea and the furniture is from Baby Town in Reseda, CA.
We also had a custom bed skirt made by BabyCakes, a store in La Canada, CA.
And to top it all off, everyone knows who’s room they are walking into thanks to the free gift from Graphic Spaces. They accidentally forgot to include the stars in the original shipment and sent us the cute door decal to make up for it. Super cool of them, right?
Because we rent our condo, we couldn’t make any design choices that were permanent or hard to undo. All of the decals came with a plastic version of a razor blade for easy decal removal. The only major change was the paint color, but we can paint it back to its original color, if need be.
I hope you enjoyed Charlie’s nursery tour.
Hmm, I don’t know if you can comment with pictures (I’m still new to this), but if you can, I would love to see pics of your baby’s nursery or your older child’s bedroom.

Oooh – I am going to take pics of the nursery this weekend! In going over all of my photos, I realized I have none! BUT I have quite a few of Charlie and Alex together!
No pics of your nursery? Shame. I’m glad you are going to take some soon. Your nursery is too gorgeous not to capture…
